argue — Fight For Screen Time · Last updated: April 20, 2026

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using argue ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The App is provided by Johnathan Mo and Alex Qi ("we", "us") as independent developers.

What the App Does

argue is a screen time tool. You pick apps to block. When you try to open one, you chat with Argo — an AI coach that decides whether to grant you a timed break. Argo's decisions are based on a conversation and system prompt; they are not human-reviewed in real time.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. The App is not intended for children under 13.

Your Account

Most of the App works without an account. If you sign in to use social features (friends, leaderboard, referrals), you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You may delete your account from within the App at any time; this removes your associated data from Firebase.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where permitted by law.
  • Use the App to harass, harm, or impersonate others through social features.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, or interfere with the App's Screen Time enforcement on devices you do not own.
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose.

AI Output

Argo is powered by large language models and can produce inaccurate, inappropriate, or unexpected responses. Its grant/deny decisions are not professional advice of any kind. Do not rely on the App for medical, psychological, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

Screen Time & Device Control

The App uses Apple's Screen Time (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) frameworks to shield apps you select. These frameworks are controlled by Apple and operate on your device. Shield behavior, timing, and reliability are subject to iOS system behavior and may change with OS updates. We do not guarantee that blocks will prevent all access in all circumstances.

Subscriptions & Payments

Some features may require a paid subscription managed through Apple's App Store. Billing, renewal, and refund policies are governed by the App Store terms you accepted with Apple. Canceling a subscription disables paid-only features but does not delete the App or your local data.

Intellectual Property

The App, its code, name, and artwork are owned by Johnathan Mo and Alex Qi. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms.

Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services including Groq (AI inference) and Firebase (authentication and social storage, optional). Your use of the App is also subject to those providers' terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or productivity, arising from your use of the App — even if we have been advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any direct damages will not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim (which may be zero).

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App or its social features at any time for violations of these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
