argue — Fight For Screen Time · Last updated: April 20, 2026
Overview
argue ("the App") is built by Johnathan Mo and Alex Qi. This policy describes how the App handles your data. The short version: your data stays on your device. We don't track you, sell your data, or run ads.
Data We Collect
The App stores the following data locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework:
- User profile — display name, avatar preferences, and screen time goals you set during onboarding.
- Conversation history — your chats with Argo (the AI companion), including outcomes (granted/denied) and timestamps.
- Screen time preferences — which apps you choose to block, streak data, and daily stats.
Screen Time Data
The App uses Apple's Screen Time framework (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to block and monitor apps you select. This data is managed entirely by Apple's framework on your device. We cannot access, read, or transmit your Screen Time usage data.
AI Conversations
When you chat with Argo, your messages are sent to a third-party AI provider (Groq) for processing. Only the conversation text is sent — no personal identifiers, device information, or Screen Time data is included. Conversations are not stored on Groq's servers beyond the duration of the API call.
Social Features (Optional)
If you choose to sign in and use social features (friends, leaderboard, referrals), the following data is stored in Firebase:
- Display name and avatar customization
- Daily focus stats (granted minutes, denied count, streak)
- Friend connections and referral codes
Social features are entirely optional. You can use the App without signing in, and no data is sent to Firebase unless you opt in.
Third-Party Services
- Groq — AI inference for conversations. Groq Privacy Policy
- Firebase — Authentication and social data (only if you sign in). Firebase Privacy
Data Retention
Local data persists until you delete the App. Firebase data can be deleted by signing out and requesting account deletion within the App.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
